The Armenian Parliament will not elect the Prime Minister after the new National Assembly be formed.

According to Armenian Constitution, after the formation of the Parliament, the Armenian President appoints the PM candidate proposed by the majority.

Proceeding from Article 150, the cabinet is formed after the appointment of the prime minister within fifteen days, while after the formation of the Government, the leader must submit within 20 days to the National Assembly a program of the Cabinet of Ministers. According to preliminary data, the first meeting of the parliament will be held on December 24.

As reported earlier, the Central Electoral Commission has counted all the ballots that were cast in Sunday’s snap parliamentary election in Armenia.

Accordingly, the My Step Alliance, led by Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, has won the election, with 70.43% (884,456 votes).

The Prosperous Armenia Party, whose chairman—and tycoon—Gagik Tsarukyan has repeatedly expressed his support to Pashinyan and his “velvet revolution,” has come second, with 8.27 percent (103,824).

And another Pashinyan supporter, Bright Armenia Party, led by Chairman Edmon Marukyan, has placed third, with 6.37% (80,024).

According to Electoral Code, the number of mandates of other political forces must not be less than 1/3, in this case it is to be 44.

Thus, to 10 and 7 mandates of Prosperous Armenia and Bright Armenia parties additional 16 and 11 are added.
